The following letter was sent by London Met UCU to Lynn Link on 7th June 2007.
Dear Ms Link, I am writing in reference to the implementation of job evaluation and equal pay grading arrangements at London Metropolitan University as mentioned in the March 2007 HR Bulletin. Could you please clarify the arrangements and timetable for consultation with UCU and other unions over the implementation of job evaluation? I understand that it is your department’s intention to use different schemes for academic and non-academic staff. Could you confirm whether this is the case and, if so, why you have taken this decision? We are, as you know, particularly concerned about the University’s positive equalities duties. Could you please let me know what arrangements you have made to ensure that these duties are implemented and what arrangements you are making to consult staff and unions on these aspects? Finally, could you please confirm that the University still has available the RDS funding from HEFCE which should have helped fund implementation? I look forward to hearing from you.
